Introduction
Outbound calls with a German number must carry a valid and permitted number that identifies the call on the provider side.
If a PBX behind a SIP trunk is not configured correctly, it can send an invalid number in the SIP header P-Asserted-Identity (PAI). This can cause problems when calls are routed and terminated.
The Default Verified Number makes sure Kwebbl always uses a valid PAI that belongs to the customer. Kwebbl checks the PAI that is sent. If it is not valid, Kwebbl replaces it with a permitted PAI stored in the Kwebbl systems. If no valid PAI is available, the call is blocked and not passed on to the next provider.
The Caller ID (CLIP) that your customer sends is handled separately. Replacing the PAI never changes the CLIP.
In this guide you will learn how the feature works and how to set the Default Verified Number for a whole company, for a single SIP trunk and for a hosted platform user.
How it works
The Default Verified Number applies to outbound calls with a German number. Two separate values are involved:
CLIP: the Caller ID shown to the person you call. Kwebbl never changes it.
PAI: the identity Kwebbl asserts as the provider. This is the Default Verified Number.
For calls over a SIP trunk, Kwebbl checks the PAI that the PBX sends:
The PAI is valid: Kwebbl uses it as the PAI for the call.
The PAI is not valid: Kwebbl uses a valid PAI that belongs to the trunk instead. The CLIP stays unchanged.
The trunk or hosted platform user has no PAI of its own: Kwebbl uses the PAI set for the company, if there is one.
No valid PAI is available: The call is blocked and not passed on.
The check and any replacement happen in the background.
Which number is used
If the PAI that is sent is not valid, Kwebbl looks for a permitted replacement in this order:
PAI of the trunk or hosted platform user: used if one is set.
PAI of the company: used if the trunk or user has none.
No valid PAI: the call is blocked.
A valid PAI that is sent is always kept. The order above only applies when it is not valid.

Set the Default Verified Number for the whole company
This setting defines one number for the whole company. It is used as the company PAI when a trunk or hosted platform user has no valid PAI of its own.
Open the Company Panel.
Click Settings in the left menu.
Find the field Default Verified Number.
Click the dropdown and select one of your numbers.
Choose what to configure
Does your company need a PAI per location?
The PAI is independent of the CLIP. This means each hosted platform user and each SIP trunk can have its own PAI linked to a location, such as the head office, a branch or a home office. The number is an important basis for assigning emergency calls to the right location.
If your company has a single location, the company Default Verified Number is enough. If it has several locations or home workers, give each relevant trunk or user a PAI that belongs to their location.
